Regional industry expert, Alder King appointed to manage White River Place - 11 May 2009
Alder King, the largest regional property consultancy in the West of England, has this week been appointed as the managing agent for the White River Place shopping centre that is opening in St Austell in October.
White River Place is a substantial new retail development in Cornwall's largest town that incorporates three storeys of retail space, extending to 155,000 sq ft, along with restaurants, 69 flats and a 550-space car park. Many exciting retail names have already signed up to open at the centre; amongst them Peacocks, New Look and a large format Wilkinsons store.
Alder King will manage the £75million project's completion on behalf of SWERDA and White River Developments and will then continue to look after the centre as it begins trading from October onwards. A 170-strong organisation, the firm has been instrumental in the management of many well known properties in the region. These include retail schemes such as Princesshay Shopping Centre in Exeter (which opened in September 2007), and other regional landmarks including Bristol and Gloucestershire Airports.
Tim Smart of Alder King comments: "We believe White River Place will provide an excellent new shopping environment which will add considerably to St Austell's existing retail offer; strengthening the town's economy and encouraging further spend from both the region and the tourist industry. We feel that the presence of our local team positions us well for the successful management of the new centre, particularly in light of the strong working relationships we have already built with the Cornish authorities and regional business community. Our first task will be the appointment of a Centre Manager to take care of the scheme day-to-day, and I am now accepting applications for this position at
tsmart@alderking.com."
The Alder King team will be in charge of sourcing and implementing service contracts, co-ordination of shop fit out, and will also be responsible for recruiting the centre management personnel in preparation for opening day!
